    • Subtle - This photo taken on February 29, 2012 shows Kenshi Kimura, an amateur mask artist for Japan's traditional 'noh' theatre showing his masterpieces at an exhibition gallery in Tokyo. Kimura's work, mostly depicting the demons common in the complex and subtle world of noh, is dedicated to his daughter and three grandchildren, killed almost a year ago as they tried to flee the waves from the tsunami on March 11, 2011. Kimura, who has been commissioned to create a mask for a professional noh actor, said he likes to produce variations on a horned and fanged female with a wide-open mouth that is identified with jealousy and grudges.

A San Francisco jury awarded Dax Pierson an $18.3 million settlement on Wednesday, finally bringing an end to a long court case against Ford. In 2005, the Subtle keyboardist was in the group’s van when it hit a patch of black ice and flipped, causing Pierson’s seat to come lose. His head then hit the roof, fracturing Pierson’s spine and leaving him paralyzed. Despite all of this, Pierson played on Subtle’s latest LP, ExitingARM, with the help of the computer program Ableton Live.
