CartT.I. and Wife Arrested on Drug Charges

First Paris Hilton and now T.I. and his new wife Tameka Cottle. The newlyweds were arrested lat Wednesday night on drug charges, when police smelled alleged marijuana smoke coming from their car, authorities said. They were arrested for possession of a controlled substance on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood during a traffic stop. Other sources indicate that there was ecstasy found in the vehicle, as well.
"Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," the department said. "A narcotics investigation ensued" that resulted in the arrests, reports The Associated Press.
T.I., 29, who is also known as Tip, or his real name, Clifford Harris Jr., and Cottle, a 36-year-old singer with the group Xscape, were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station and bail was set at $10,000 each.
T.I. was released from jail earlier this year after serving time on federal weapons charges.
The Associated Press posted a statement from one of Tip's lawyers. "We're not making any observations at this time," said Ed Garland, a defense attorney for T.I. "This is an unfortunate occurrence, and we do not know what the outcome will be." His music label, Atlantic Records, also said it "would be premature to speculate about the current situation given that there is an ongoing investigation of this matter," according to The Associated Press, as well.
