Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Activator - React with Activator

Here in the column inches of Take Aim, we love a band that makes awesome music and that doesn't take itself too seriously. Activator are one of those bands. Lead singer Shannon Moore answered our questions with a degree of humor and if we weren't already spoken for, we'd probably stan him and stalk him online, begging for him to request our hand in marriage.

Oops, did we say that out loud?

Find out about the band and how Sara from Tegan and Sara entered his life.

Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!

Two guys become friends start a band, make 2 more friends, wrote an EP. Joined label. Label folded. Wrote album. Self released. Not easy. Frustrating. Own terms. Legalese free (for now). Learning. Even losses are victories. Could've done something else. There is nothing else. Getting the feeling this is too long for twitter. #whatthehellhappenedtomysavings?

If you were not doing music, you would be...

Pretty miserable. And homeless. I didn't really leave much room for a Plan B.

Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?

Jared and I are both pretty serious movie fans. I just recently started acting. I did a movie not too long ago with Mike Myers called Super Mensch. I play a scumbag promoter. I guess that counts as a secondary skill. I also find cooking to be rather cathartic. I've learned to specialize in comfort foods. That's gotta be worth something.

Pick ONE song one your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?

Umm.. There were times I would be walking home from the gym and there was this girl in my neighborhood that I would see all the time in front of her building. I thought she was cute, but I would never talk to her. But every now and then we would make eye contact. One night I saw her at a bar and decided to talk to her. It turns out that she is Sara Quin from Tegan and Sara. We hung out all night and she told me about her music and though I recognized the name I knew nothing about their music. But I thought she was awesome so I decided to check out a few songs. I think it was right at the time their album Sainthood had come out. I was really going through some writer's block and needed some kind of spark of influence to start on these new songs we were writing. I listened to the song 'Alligator' and it helped me to realize that I didn't have to write so many words in a song. As a result of that, 'Sexy for Breakfast' was born. As well as my friendship with Tegan and Sara. Who I think is complete in expurgated awesomeness.

Finish this sentence: Activator is the band that...
