Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Ariana Castelli
Fri, 12 Dec 2014 13:27:47
Today's Take Aim contestant is Ariana Castelli, a rising LGBTQ pop singer from Brooklyn. She also studies coins and currency! Really! Her music makes you think and makes you wanna dance. She is that good.
Castelli's philosophy is that "music is therapy and if I could help someone be stronger or move someone through my music then my mission is complete!"
Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!
Born in Brooklyn, New York within an eccentric Italian family, Ariana has grown up participating in all forms of art including singing, dancing and composing songs since she was six. With the support of her family, Ariana built up a rounded musical background including scoring the soundtrack to an independent film and producing and recording music at Cove Studios and Dream Factory. However, nothing is more impactful to Ariana's music than her insight into discrimination in the music business. Ariana is a proud member of the LGBTQ community and she grew up watching an industry which did not endorse gay or bisexual artists. Wanting to empower those who have ever felt deplored by generational stereotypes, Ariana took to writing beautiful, awe-inspiring tracks that incorporated the best of popular club music. Vibrant, catchy and lyrically heartening, Ariana is currently crafting music that's deeply inspirational and sensationally memorable.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
If I were not doing music I would be a music therapist!
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I love to cook. I love to dance. I design clothes. And I'm a numismatist!
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
I wrote a song 'Ima Be Alright' while going through a scary moment in my life. Waiting for results to come. It felt like the longest 24 hours of my life. Sometimes, we feel untouchable or that things can't happen to us. Until you reach a moment, as I did, where you realize how much you can take granted everyday. In that instant, your life can be turned upside down. This song is really about me in my despair hoping that my grandmother from up above is watching down on me and protecting me!
Finish this sentence: Ariana Castelli is the artist that...
...is lyrically sincere with a goal of social change. We are all human if I can help broken souls heal through my music then my goal is accomplished!
