Basic Vacation Videos
No need for a vacation when you can get to know the rockers in Basic Vacation, which just released its self-titled EP. [iTunes link] We invited singer/guitarist Chris Greatti into the ring for a Take Aim sesh. He emerged unscathed.

Basic Vacation is a three-piece rock/pop band from the Northeast that focuses on a high-energy live show and musically intricate recorded arrangements. The band draws influence from assorted musical artists spanning most decades prior to the new millennium - specifically '80s and '90s rock and pop acts - as well as personal experience and films and their soundtracks.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
If I wasn't doing music I might've gotten more into film and video. It's hard to say because I literally wouldn't know more than half of the people in my life if I hadn't started playing music. Mike may have stayed in school a bit longer. Jon definitely would've opened an artisan lightbulb factory.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
We like to watch a lot of movies - our favorite directors include Quentin Tarantino/Stanley Kubrick/Werner Herzog, etc. Jon [Paul] likes to ride his Harley. I like finding weird sushi restaurants and can recite the alphabet backwards. Mike [Montalbano] likes snowboarding when it's in season and can hold 62 packets of Taco Bell fire sauce in one hand.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
The song 'Jamie,' which will be the second track on our EP, was definitely a crazy song to work with. It stemmed from literally one of the first song ideas Jon and I came up with our manager, Josh, in the heat of summer 2012, and it was kind of shelved for a while because we just couldn't seem to get the production right. The song is about a girl we knew who recently passed away, so it's very close to home for all of us and we definitely knew we wanted to make it work. So when we were crunching down to the final weeks of wrapping the EP we revisited the song, tried a new spin on it, completely rolled the dice and it ended up coming out better than any of us could have imagined. Needless to say we're very excited that this song will now be one of the lead tracks on the EP.
Finish this sentence: Basic Vacation is the artist that...
Basic Vacation is the artist that has chewed through galvanized steel to get to where it is now. We have and will continue to bust our asses every waking moment of every day of every week to make sure that this band is absolutely as strong as it can be.
Will you take a basic vacation?
