Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Beach - She was previously Bitch

Beach. Bitch. Karen. They are one in the same. With Beach about to release In Us We Trust, we felt the need to invite her to Take Aim with us. Having lived in a cabin in the woods and now shuttling between said nook and Los Angeles, we knew that she'd be up for anything, including a Take Aim sesh.

So settle in and get to know her!

Beach? Bitch? Karen? Those are all your names and alter egos. Can you summarize "her" and yourself in 140 words or less (or characters?) Twitter-sized!

My fans have always known me as Bitch, my new project is BEACH, and Karen is the artist behind it all!

If you were not doing music, you would be...

Fostering a bunch of wayward kids and rescued animals.

Any non-music hobbies or skills or talents?

I love to cook. Greens are my specialty. I have been tap-dancing since I was 3. I write poetry almost every day and have a suitcase full of journals. I left NYC while making my new album, lived in a cabin in the woods for two years to finish it, then went to Los Angeles and now go between L.A. and the cabin. So I guess that means I'm adaptable to super weird and varied environments.

Can you tell us a writing or recording story about one of your songs? Maybe "Ibuprofen?"

"Ibuprofen" was just a little funny line in my head ("Ibuprofen when you gonna kick in?") When I started working with Roger Paul Mason, I went to his apartment and sang that little ditty and its melody into a mic, then proceeded to describe, while he recorded, how I pictured the song going. That ENTIRE vocal track is still in the final song, including the part where I say "And then the beat kicks in."

Shameless self-promo time -- anything you wanna hawk, feel free!

I'm very proud of the new album In Us We Trust and hope your readers go take a listen! I have also been lucky enough to work with the songwriter Ferron, and will be releasing a new album I've produced of her, with an accompanying surreal documentary. It's called Thunder & Lighten-ing. Alligator and I already want to make more songs so stay tuned.

    Will you Trust Beach?

    —Amy Sciarretto
