Talented MC from Brooklyn whose goal is to bridge gaps in music, currently working on my debut album ALL RISE which should drop early 2015.
If you were not doing music, you would be…
I would be pursuing a career in the medical field or possibly continuing work as a government contractor. I would continue my Masters Degree as well.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I love playing sports, spending time with my daughter and hanging out with friends.
Pick ONE song one your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
'People I Meet' is the song of choice. It's a very personal song and probably the one of the only songs on the whole EP that I actually let the pen flow and write what I was feeling at the moment. Sitting in the studio with Andrew one night before the harmonica part was even added to the song put me in a zone where I felt like I can venture into something I've experienced, first leaving the military with nowhere to go and sleeping in my car or friend's houses because I had nowhere to go. When Andrew played the Harmonica part, I knew I had to rap the blues, and just let it all out. That song is my escape from the past and opens up new life at the end about struggle and never giving up.
Finish this sentence: Crown is the artist that…
…that's very honest, giving and loyal regardless of any situation. I'm a people person and love helping others as well as seeing other people succeed in life. When I see other people win, that's motivation enough for me to never give up and continue working hard.
