TAKE AIM: Amy Sciarretto vs. Darrelle London
Fri, 28 Sep 2012 13:11:18
Darrelle London is a piano-pop songstress who is set to release her sophomore record, Eat a Peach on November 7, 2012. She's Toronto-based and was praised by Perez Hilton early in her career. All those things make us like her and are the reasons we invited her in the ring for a Take Aim. Here's what we learned...
If you were not doing music, you'd be...
After undergrad I got into law school, but decided to pursue my music career instead. So I guess I would be a lawyer. I was always interested in the ethics and philosophy side of studying law.
Any non-musical skills/hobbies/talents?
I recently realized that I like painting. I needed some images for my CD cover, so I bought some paint and paint brushes and started painting peaches and trees! Those are the only things I can paint so far, but I find it very relaxing.
Pick one song from Eat a Peach and share a writing or recording story we'd only know because you just told us! Something intimate and colorful, please!
The line in "Spaghetti" about getting drunk and missing the dance was about a night in university when I drank too much tequila and missed my formal. My date, Trevor, left me on the bathroom floor of his friend's house, where I woke up a few hours later, mortified. I didn't change Trevor's name in the song.
How did it feel to get "love" from Perez Hilton who is so critical? How about winning the Lilith contest?
Perez is a brutally honest person, so getting his endorsement meant a lot to me. He only posts what he feels strongly about, and I'm just fortunate that he connected with my music. I owe a lot to him.
Winning the Lilith contest was a huge honor, because I've loved Sarah McLachlan for a very long time. Meeting her was amazing, she was so gracious and encouraging. Lilith was also the first concert I ever attended back when I was 12, so it was a cool, full-circle kind of moment.
Twitter-sized bio - 140 characters OR words of everything we need to know about you!
Obsessed with music, have the best family in the world, watch too many horror films, can't wait to own a dog, mistakenly think I can dance.

Isn't she just peachy?
