Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Dead Stars
Thu, 02 May 2013 16:44:12
Dead Stars will drop High Gain on June 4 via Uninhabitable Mansions - a label founded by fellow Brooklynites Radical Dads. Dead Stars are a sonic throwback to the '90s with a modern twist. You know, '90s nostalgia is the "thing" right now, be it on the college and indie rock front or the more mainstream side of things, so we decided to draw Dead Stars in for a Take Aim sesh.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Probably freelance selling or working in a shop of some kind. Maybe a Haberdashery?
Any non-music skills, hobbies, talents?
Driving, Sleeping, Cooking, Bars, WOW, Climbing, Computers, Jail, Reading. I won't say which of us is involved in what though.
Pick a track on High Gain and share a writing/recording story -- something we'd only know because you told us.
The last song on the EP, 'No Sympathy,' was written while watching my dog chew on a bone, so I used that in the lyrics with the intent of changing it later. But I'm pretty lazy, so I left it in there. Now it's taken on a whole new meaning. But ultimately it's still about a dog bone.
Twitter-size your bio --140 words or characters, your choice-- of what we NEED to know.

Is '90s nostalgia the "in" thing for this decade? Fave thing about that era?
I'm not sure if it's the 'in' thing or not. It might be, or it could be that people are just excited about honest, organic guitar bands again and that reminds them of the '90s. Favorite thing about that era? Sweaters with thumb holes in the sleeves.
