Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Edan Dover + Eddie Anthony of The Score
Wed, 02 Jan 2013 11:48:14
Edan Dover and Eddie Anthony of NYC's The Score are the first brave souls to enter the Take Aim ring in 2013. Godspeed, boys.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
ED: Probably something creative and entrepreneurial like building an online start-up company.
EA: If I wasn't doing music I would probably be a doctor. I was a business and bio major in college so I would probably be in med school.
Any non-musical skills, hobbies or talents?
ED: I'm good with computers-- I build websites, graphic design, video animation. I created our two lyric videos. Eddie calls me Neo. And I can wiggle my ears.
EA: I played football in high school and for a bit in college and still play basketball regularly. I'm pretty good at sports betting if that's a talent haha.
Pick one song off your EP and share a writing or recording story. Something we'll only know bc you told us.
ED +EA: We wrote "Almost" in my apartment in my little studio we call "Sweatshop Jr." My dad's studio in Westchester is named "Sweatshop Studios" which is where we recorded most the EP. We started playing those four chords and realized there was something so moving about that particular progression... it just hits certain strings in the human brain to resonate in a powerful way. And we liked the rootsy soul/gospel feel. So Eddie came up with a beautiful verse melody and we took it from there. We wanted to communicate the idea of "almost" getting what you want-- the tragedy in being unable to grasp something just out of reach. Heartbreak was a great way to channel that idea so it became a love song (not surprisingly haha).
What can we expect from The Score in 2013?
ED + EA: First of all you can expect our debut EP, due out mid February. It's made up of five really great songs and we're working with a great team of musicians and engineers to turn them into soulful, retro pop recordings, so we're excited to share with everyone. We'll continue to perform in the NY tri-state area and hopefully get in on a few festivals. This EP has been a great opportunity to establish our sound and create a clearer direction for the next songs we write. Eddie and I are hoping to cut a couple pop songs for other artists as well (like we did with Kat.)
Twitter-size your bio: 140 words or characters - your choice- on what we NEED to know about The Score.
ED +EA: The Score is a NYC-based alt-pop band led by songwriters ("Wanna Say" by Kat Graham): Eddie Anthony & Edan Dover. Together with powerhouse vocalist Kiah Victoria, The Score brings the pop sensibility of Maroon 5 to the retro vibe of Amy Winehouse. Their debut EP is expected for release mid-February.
