Alfonso Soto created Geeh, The Band to give his young children positive musical role models.
We love the band and we had to learn more about G,TB.
Can you give us the rundown of Geeh, The Band and the members?
Geeh is a virtual band for kids between ages 5-12 and is made up of seven members; Cue (drummer & manager), Mid (bass), Tune (back up vocals), Melody (lead vocalist), Up (lead guitar), Groove (percussion) and Loop (keyboardist). The characters are called Meaps and they first appeared on a garlic-shaped planet called Premmuy.
Band members have their own personality, job, likes and dislikes. For example, Cue loves new apps for his Smartphone and Melody is not a fan of raspberries. She and Up are even dating! The 7 Geeh members go on adventures that teach kids important life lessons.
What was the impetus for you to create Geeh, The Band? Was there ONE specific incident?
I created Geeh when my two daughters were 5 and 7. They loved to sing along to all of the music that was popular at the moment but there was a problem. The songs they were singing had lyrics that were not suitable for them. It was then I realized there was a gap of music for children between the ages of 5-12. I created the band for that one reason; so parents and children could listen to good music that is appropriate but not childish.
Who writes the music? Will there be a TV show or a movie? Is that a goal?! Seems like it could go "there."
The Geeh team consists of my wife, my daughters, our music producer and myself. We are hoping that this project grows further and becomes a global phenomenon. Our future goals are to make Geeh a cartoon and host live virtual concerts with holographic technology.
