Wed, 19 Feb 2014 15:08:56
Irish tenor Paul Byrom dropped Thinking of Home this week, so we invited the singer, who counts Ireland and NYC as his dual homes, into the ring to Take Aim.
Oh, and his tour starts today so you should go see him. But get to know him first via this Take Aim chat.
Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!
Dublin born tenor. Former member of Celtic Thunder. Last solo album went to No. 1 on World Billboard Charts. About to start U.S tour on back of new album release THINKING OF HOME.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
I think I would possibly have ended up in television. Perhaps presenting but maybe also acting as I love performing.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I watch soccer all the time and love LIVERPOOL. I love exercising -- my new addiction is a mix between CrossFit and the gym.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
My song 'Lady Liberty' was a song I wrote after moving to N.Y. Whilst out visiting the statue, it occurred to me that this was where I wanted to stay and start a family. Who knows? Time will tell.
So do you consider both Ireland and NYC your homes? And what is your fave thing about each?
I still consider Dublin as home. I think I always will. My favorite thing about Dublin is the people -- being surrounded by family and close friends...on top of all the great bars!
New York is, without question, my home away from home. There is a buzz here like no other. Everyone is accepted for who they are and there is an energy here that makes you believe you can make it.
Finish this sentence: Paul Byrom is the artist that...
...That never gave up. When the chips were down, he stood up and pushed through!!
