Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Judgement Day's Jon Bush
Mon, 24 Sep 2012 16:32:08
Amy Sciarretto invited Judgement Day's Jon Bush into the ring for a Take Aim segment. He has mad skills, like juggling and the ability to clean the shit out of a kitchen! Find out more about said skills!
Also, Judgement Day have crafted an innovative style, showcasing their shredding chops on violin and cello.
Do you have any non-music skills/hobbies/talents?
Sure. I got mad skills and a number of hobbies. I'm a computer wiz; I pay the bills doing techy stuff for a computer software company. I worked in restaurants for years so I can cook, open a bottle of wine and clean the shit out of a kitchen. I can even juggle (3 balls, not 4). My newest hobby is my super sweet motorcycle. I'm the type who is competent at everything, and an expert at nothing (except maybe Dr. Mario, I dare you to challenge me.)
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Wealthy. Hah! But seriously, I distracted myself from academics in high school by playing in bands and passed on a computer science degree in college to pursue a music career. I have no regrets, in fact I'm sure I'd be less happy, but I'd definitely have a lot more money if I was not doing music.
Pick one song on your album and put us INSIDE the moment, be it a writing or recording story. Something we could only know if you told us!
"The Jump." When we were writing this song, I was literally looking out at the Pacific Ocean. The view provided this positive energy which lit up my soul. Everything just felt right. I had the same view for the entire writing and recording process which took place in Sea Ranch, California. There are a few tracks on the record which always bring me back to that place and time, including "Demon Fire," "Darmok" and "Xenophonic." For these songs, I suggest that listeners close their eyes and think of the Northern California coastline on a beautiful, sunny day.
What is Judgement Day?
Judgement Day is pure, unadulterated expression of the mind and body.
Twitter-bio time: 140 words of EVERYTHING you want people to know.
I guess I want people to know that Judgement Day is better live. I hope people check out our recordings and enjoy them, but we have yet to capture in the studio what we are able to do live. I don't know exactly what it is about the live show, perhaps the fact that a lot of improvisation is used making every show unique, or the visual element of seeing string players rock out on stage, but we get an incredible response from live crowds. So I suggest you come see a show when we come to your town. Tour dates are listed on http://stringmetal.com, and you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Have a nice day!
