Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Kaiser Soze
Mon, 03 Mar 2014 14:18:13
Today's Take Aim participant is rapper Kaiser Soze. Get to know this Minneapolis native and hockey fan on the level. We dig him so we felt we had to make the intro to you, dear reader.
Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!
Born in Minneapolis, I was first influenced by hip-hop when my older cousin slipped me a Beastie Boys tape. I grew up around local rappers trying to figure out a way to break into the scene, and like they say if you hang around the barber shop long enough, you get a haircut.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
An unhappy person. Music has always been my passion and I think being an artist is what makes me the best person I can be. To do something like music to the extent we do you have to love it, it's long days and long nights and many ups and downs. It can be very discouraging at times but the cons have never outweighed the pros.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I love to write -- I successfully flunked out of pretty much every class I ever took besides writing. For some reason, it always came naturally to me. Besides that being from Minnesota, I'm a pretty big hockey fan. Go Wild!
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
I think the track 'Teenage Crime' on my Good Things Come to Those Who Take EP was probably one of the more intimate cuts. I enjoy making music for people to have a good time to and that's what we debuted with. However, I also enjoy making music about my experiences that people can relate to. I wrote that track over the course of a month between other songs while thinking back on my life. I think everything you need to know about Kaiser is in that song.
Finish this sentence: Kaiser Soze is the artist that...
...Does it for the love of music.
