Today's Take Aim opponent is the lovely, LOVELY Lauren Harris, the daughter of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris. She fronts Kingdom of I. Harris, 29, is forging her own path as a singer of a band and she is just divine! Her dad is a English heavy metal royalty, but she is certainly holding her own.
We felt compelled to invite her into the Take Aim ring for a chat.
Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!
OK...Lauren Harris is a singer and has sang to over a half-million people worldwide, her new band Kingdom of I are ready to take on the world!
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Acting. It's something I've always been interested in. I studied theatre at school and I've been taking classes with Howard Fine at his studio which I love. It's something would like to get into also.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
Skiing. I never skied until a year ago and thought, 'Why have I never done this before? It's amazing.' I'm going over New Year's again so I'm excited to pick it up again because it's definitely something that gets better with practice.
Pick ONE song one your record and share a writing or recording story. Of course it can be your single! Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
Recording the vocals with Alain [Johannes] was awesome because his studio is in his home so we'd take little breaks and sit on his couch and drink cups of tea 'since us Brits do love a cup of tea but it just felt so homely and inviting so we would talk about music and tv and books and he'd be like, 'Have you seen this or that?' So I remember him showing me an episode of Mr. Show. I have no clue what song we were recording but we were sitting there in fits in laughter at it.
Finish this sentence: Lauren Harris is the artist that...
And we have to ask: If you were going to cover one of Iron Maiden's song, which would it be and why?
Haha! Ok, it's really difficult for me to pick one so I'm picking two. Either 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' or 'Wasted Years' just because they're my favorites.
Check out the song "Crying at the Disco" below!
Did you dig Lauren Harris and her music as much as we did?
