Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. Lotus Crush

Terry McDermott, formerly of Team Blake on The Voice, has a new project we love called Lotus Crush. Let's get the lowdown on Lotus, shall we, from the man himself? We have all the intel on what could be your new favorite band.
Lotus Crush are Scottish singer Terry McDermott, a Voice runner-up on Season 3, guitarist Peter Klett of Candlebox, drummer Scott Mercado of Candlebox, and guitarist Island Styles of Jimmy’s Chicken Shack. What a cool pedigree. The dudes knew each other for a while through tour life and Lotus Crush formed pretty organically.

I'm the Scottish frontman and co-founder of Lotus Crush. The band was started by myself and Peter Klett of multi-platinum American rock band Candlebox. We sound like a cross between Biffy Clyro/The Verve/and a little Pink Floyd and we think you're gonna love it when you hear it.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Writing. I have degree in Corporate Communications and have written for a satirical newspaper and a handful of magazine and publications. My parents reacted to my declaration at 14 that 'You don’t have to worry. I'm going to be a rock star' with 'Fine. Get a degree and we'll always back you 100%.' I kept my end of the bargain and they always kept theirs.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I'm an avid football fan. Both types. The one with a foot and a ball, and the American one with the hand and the egg. Aberdeen FC is my team back home and I go to the Superdome to see New Orleans Saints whenever I can. I'm pretty good at accents too. I had my mother-in-law believing I was Texan for weeks after I first spoke to her.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
'Bye Bye.' It was the toughest song on the record to record because of the content. My daughter was born looking like the spitting image of my mother, who passed away from ALS 12 years ago. It brought up a whole lot of old wounds and it took me back to writing a lot of songs about that subject for my band from Scotland, Driveblind, when we were working on our debut for Geffen. I had decided long ago, that I'd written all I needed to say on the matter, but suddenly I was hurting again. This song is about the process to finally be okay with thinking about it and not feeling like there's a black hole in my chest. The record's producer Todd Burman and co-producer Justin Armstrong still find it hard to work on this track because it’s so raw and there were tears in the control room when we laid the final vocal one late night here at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle.
Finish this sentence: Lotus Crush is the artist that...
... is going to surprise the shite out of you and really step up Scottish-American relations in 2015.
Check out their song "Hearts and Minds."
It's at Soundcloud and it rocks... whole-heartedly.
