Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. O'Brother's Michael Martens
Thu, 19 Sep 2013 16:03:58
Oh brother! It's O'Brother time.
Drummer Michael Martens was the brave soul who stepped into the Take Aim pit this week. The band just released Disillusion and if you are disillusioned with rock music, the album will change your opinion and perspective since, you know, it slays. It mixes sludge and lots of scratchy guitars, which is a recipe we LURVE.
Find out everything you need to know --in efficient fashion-- about O'Brother. Like why we'd call Martens "handsy" --trust us, it's not what you'd think-- and what song you NEED to listen to on the new album since it's cardio-powered.
Twitter size your bio -- 140 words of everything we NEED to know in 140 words or characters, your choice! GO!
O'Brother travels the country/world in search of good food. Some days we play music to finance our search. Whiskey is sometimes involved...
If you were not doing music you would be...
...If I were not playing music, I would be busy finding some other excuse to travel the world.
Any non-music hobbies/skills/talents?
I like to work with my hands a lot. That usually entails building furniture or road cases or something crafty along those lines. [Editor's Note: That's what we meant by "handsy." We know, we marvel at our own humor. ]
Pick one song on the new album and put us in the moment -- share a writing or recording story! Something colorful and that you haven't already told other outlets!
When we wrote 'Parasitical,' we (well, the guitarists at least) jogged in place every time we ran through it because it made us want to do cardio. [Editor's Note: Maybe Martens marvels at his own humor or maybe he's serious. We'll NEVER tell!]
Finish this sentence: O'Brother is the band that...
...O'Brother is the band you've always wanted to take home to Mom.

Will you get "disillusioned" with O'Brother? We highly recommend it.
