Obituary are death metal royalty. Their new album Inked in Blood is out October 28.
We nabbed some time with drummer Donald Tardy, who is passionate about death metal and helping cats.
We love an animal rights activist, especially one that pounds the skins in a metal band. Learn more about jackass-like nuts, cat crusading and more!

A DeathMetalBand from FL. Throwing down mid-tempo, groove heavy riffs for 30years...making heads around the world bang.

I volunteer my time helping homeless cats and the over-population problem here in Tampa by way of the TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) program with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. I care for 25 colonies --about 150 feral cats-- in my area, providing them with food and fresh water daily while getting the kittens off the streets, socialized, spayed/neutered and into adoption programs with our local rescue groups and keeping the population problem down by eliminating the breeding process thru monitoring and TNVR.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
Song 1 on the record I pulled off a one-take: no edits or punches, and performed that song barefoot and in my underwear. Though I normally play drums with shoes, this day I went for it barefoot....as for the underwear thing...I was just feeling it that day!
Finish this sentence: Obituary is the artist that...
...is not afraid to make a song as heavy as a sack of donkey balls without having to play a thousand miles an hour.
Heavy as a sack of donkey balls! Drumming in undies! Cat crusading! We love Donald Tardy.
Will you get Inked in Blood with Obituary?
