Oh, Be Clever met in '06 when we were both in our little high scathed each other to the point of violenchool emo bands. Our bands were rivals and loe. A fight broke out one night after a show, and Cory and I decided it was time to bounce to greener, less violent fields.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Crying. Or living on a hippie commune. Or both.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I am growing more and more obsessed with rock climbing. I'm TERRIBLE at it, but I LOVE it. I conquered a huge phobia of heights that I have, so I feel great about my new hobby.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
'Someone Better' was written for someone I haven't spoken to in years. And I feel a little crazy talking about it to you right now, to be honest. This person was what I would call a soul mate. I met him at a show of mine years ago, and he caught my eye from the back of the crowd. I ruined it all because I was scared of how much I really cared about him and the thought of losing him was destroying me...even though that fear was completely imagined/over exaggerated. I wrote the song to finally get it off my chest. All those emotions I was plagued by for years, are finally out of my system. Now I go to a free session of therapy every time I perform that song.
