Take Aim: Amy Sciarretto vs. The Killing Lights' Michael Vampire
Fri, 05 Sep 2014 16:21:32
The Killing Lights, the new project of Michael Vampire of Vampires Everywhere!, are our Take Aim subjects today! Michael Vampire —born Michael Orlando— himself was the participant!
The Killing Lights have recorded a self-produced, self-titled five-song EP, which they plan to initially release for FREE to fans in September.
Now, take a minute to learn their history and then get to know 'em.
Michael survived a near-fatal car accident seven years ago. He was hit by a drunk driver which flipped his tour van. Pronounced D.O.A. at the hospital, he somehow made a miraculous recovery with only a broken arm and jaw. The ordeal left Michael with a fire to complete his lifelong dream in music and help others affected by hardship. His first endeavor as a frontman spawned what became known as Vampires Everywhere!, a concept band based around The Lost Boys.
Because VE! switched gears and eventually split, Michael returned to metal.

The Killing Lights is a metal band based out of Hollywood. It was founded by Michael Vampire and DJ Black, formerly of Vampires Everywhere!
If you were not doing music, you would be...
I would probably be a plastic surgeon! There is something creepy and amazing about that job that entices me greatly. It also takes great skill and precision to change someone's body. I'm sure you're all thinking Dexter right now, since most of my fans think I'm kooky for my Coco Puffs!
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I enjoy stuffing dead pigeons and making them in works of art. Ok, I don't stuff pigeons! I am a giant movie buff. I am obsessed with horror anime and well made 'A' horror movies. I can't get into 'B' horror movies for some reason. It's definitely character flaw. What's funny is this question is bringing up all sorts of demons and weird OCDs about myself! I guess I'm a weirdo.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
We were recording 'Lies Spread Like Fire,' which you now know as our debut video song. Me and my guitar player DJ Black were in the process of wrapping up the song in the studio. We were both drunk like skunks off D'usse, which is Jay-Z's Cognac.
Things started getting heated in the studio and we started to change the entire song every hour. Now keep in mind the video shoot was the next day and we needed this song done! It wasn't till 3 in the morning that we decided to call it quits on the song for the night, but we had no chorus. I remember DJ sweating and stressed, saying 'We are fucked!'
I'm like, 'Look, we need to finish this song. We will not let this song get the best of us!' In a drunken stupor, I said, 'They have tried to take us down so many times... we will not fall this time!' DJ then replies with 'We rise to fall,' which became the chorus around 5 in the morning.
Now this may sound 'not that stressful' to some of you but trust me... with a ton of money on the line for a video and our song unfinished it became a highly stressful situation. Needless to say, we got no sleep for the video and our hangover was beyond horrible!
Finish this sentence: The Killing Lights is the artist that...
... is here because of their fans!
