Fri, 16 May 2014 15:07:43
Today, we Take Aim with The Mighty Fine, who participated in the TA as a collective and a unit, but with vocalist/guitarist Brook Thompson also taking the lead and answering as "I." (The Mighty) Fine by us.
They talk punk rock, beer and artisan ice cream. All things we like to partake in every now and again.
Twitter-size your bio -- your choice of 140 words or characters, if you want to get technical-- and tell us everything we need to know! GO!
The Mighty Fine is made up of beer/wine enthusiasts that grew up listening to punk rock. We come from California's San Luis Obispo. In March, we released Brothers & Smugglers, an album jam-packed with punk rock and rock 'n' roll stylings.
If you were not doing music, you would be...
Starting an artisan ice cream company. There are so many ice cream flavors waiting to be discovered and we'd be there spreading it to the masses. Preferably in a food truck.
Any non-music hobbies, talents or skills?
I dig all things Star Wars. Not much of a skill, but one hell of a hobby. We're starting to make our own beer. Can't exactly tell you how talented we are at it yet, so check back with us in a bit and we'll let you sample for yourself.
Pick ONE song on your record and share a writing or recording story. Something intimate, that you haven't told anyone else (or at least a bunch of writers or journalists) and that which puts us in the moment with you. Let's get intimate, shall we?
The song 'Palindrome' on our new record is an ode to my grandfather who passed away last year. He wasn't an easy man to get to know, but I was lucky enough to be one of few who did. I had a lot of great memories with him, and as painful as it was to lose him, writing the song helped me keep him alive.
Finish this sentence: The Mighty Fine is the artist that
Makes the best of all situations. No matter what's thrown our way, we find ways to have a great time and cherish them along the way. Not everyone gets to play music, so we try not to take it for granted. The Mighty Fine is damn grateful!
