Take Aim: Gemma Ray Vs. Amy Sciarretto

Gemma Ray graciously put up her dukes for a Take Aim Q+A with Amy Sciarretto. We always knew she was a class act. We just hope she will invite us over for tea soon. In the meantime, we love her album, Island Fire.
Do you have any non-music hobbies or skills or talents?
Yes. I am a very good tea maker and also starting to collect antique postcards. I love imagining what the correspondents were like and how they would have felt if they knew how long their postcards would be kicking around.
If you were not doing music, you would be...?
Nursing - either other people or if I had no creative outlet, probably more likely myself.
Pick one song on Island Fire and give us the inside scoop, be it a writing or recording story. Something intimate we could not know simply from hearing it, something you have to tell us.
"Bring Ring Ring Yeah" is a pop song which gives a glimpse at a day in the life of a depressed elderly man with Alzheimer's. I wrote "Here Comes the Light" doing lengths in a swimming pool and "Rescue Me" in Morrisons Supermarket in Holloway Road, and "Make It Happen" in the Blue Mountains in Australia. "They All Wanted a Slice" is an ode to the South Walian colloquialism and Australian wildlife.
If you could come up with five words to describe your music, what would they be?
I like to leave my music open whatever the listener feels, iI don't think my place to say.
What can we expect from Gemma Ray in 2012?
Another tour, a fantasy soundtrack album I have ready to release and a lot of interesting shows in new places I hope.
Did you check out Gemma Ray yet?
