After months of writing and recording, Taking Back Sunday has posted "El Paso," the first song off their Eric Valentine-produced new album. Listen to "El Paso" here.
The release marks a return to the New York band's original line-up from their 2002 debut Tell All Your Friends: vocalist Adam Lazzara, guitarist Eddie Reyes and drummer Mark O'Connell have reunited with vocalist/guitarist John Nolan and bass player Shaun Cooper, who departed in 2003. Tell All Your Friends has sold over one million records worldwide, spawned breakthrough anthem "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut from the Team)" and launched the band as one of the most influential of its generation. The self-titled release, due out this summer, is Taking Back Sunday's fifth studio album, three of which have been certified Gold.
"We have been waiting ever so patiently to share new music with everyone," said Lazzara. "'El Paso' was one of the first songs written for our new record and is by far the heaviest our band has ever ventured. We spent a few weeks at the Sonic Ranch in El Paso, TX while writing and I feel this song in particular really embodies both the mood of the environment we were in down there and the mood we were in about being back together again and writing new music. Hence the title, 'El Paso.' Be prepared for some punishing goodness, ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts."
Are you stoked about the return of the original members of TBS? Did you dig "El Paso?" I freakin' loved it. It's dirty, raw and hip.
