Taylor Swift Notches Highest Selling Album Of 2017, Surprises Fans in NY & Nashville

Taylor Swift sent fans into a tizzy this week when she stopped into her local Nashville Target retail store to pick up a copy of her newest album, Reputation. The singer has a tradition that she buys every one of her new releases at Target, and she took the time to pause for some pics that fans shared on social media — those look like some pretty happy checkout clerks, too.
In case you have been hiding under a rock, Swift released Reputation last Friday, November 10th, to high expectations and even higher excitement. Initial reporting by Nielsen Music indicated 700,000+ sales in its first 24 hours, without even confirming numbers from every last retailer. After four reporting days, Nielsen is already reporting sales of 1.05 million records, good enough for the LP to become the highest selling album of the year so far.
That makes that one copy the country turned pop-star purchased for herself in Nashville just a tiny drop in an enormous barrel. Reputation swiftly outstripped Ed Sheeran's ÷/Divide, which had been the year's previous sales leader with 900,000+ equivalent album units sold. Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. drops to the third slot for 2017 with numbers in the mid 800,000's. Reputation becomes Swift's unprecedented fourth album with first week sales that have reached seven digits, and she already held the record for that statistic as the only act to do so three times.
Swift also stopped in at her Reputation pop-up shop in her adopted home of New York City, visiting with more of her fans and thanking them for their fervid support. AT&T hosted the pop-up shop, which sold Reputation-related merchandise, and also housed the gold throne featured in the "Look What You Made Me Do" music video. Check Instagram for hundreds of fan pics sitting on that throne...
Obviously not content with just selling millions of albums, Swift is also about to put tickets on sale for an extensive stadium tour in support of Reputation, so register for your place in line now for the first 25 shows announced — spanning from May to October of next year.
