13-year-old singer/dancer/spokesman Maxso, who looks like a min adult, thanks to his attire, his carefully calculated choreography and facial expressions, is paying tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson with this song and video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9DtXXDdNuo. The sincere ballad, "We Miss You," is available on iTunes and this clip has been viewed a whopping 100,000 times.
Maxso was described as the "world's youngest rapper" when he was two-years-old! But he shows his "mature" side with this song, according to his marketing folks. Mature? The kid is 13. I am not sure how a kid who has barely reached puberty can present a mature perspective on the death of a pop icon, but hey, he does have a sweet voice and the song is touching. It's also worth noting that as a child star, Maxso can surely relate to Jackson, who was troubled because of how he grew up in the glare of the spotlight, which effectively wiped out his own childhood. "Maxso's unique perspective comes not only from his personal experience as a child star, but the stage of life he is in," says Rose'e, Maxso's manager. "He is inspired by Michael's moves as a performer, yet sensitive to the idea of being a prodigy. He also understands the pain and doubt that surrounded Michael's life."
Maxso actually had the opportunity to meet and perform for Jackson when he visited the Neverland Ranch a few years ago. And that's ALL I am going to say about that. Please keep the comments to a minimum on this one, as I know where this can go.
Additionally, Maxso has been named a spokesman for the Michael Jackson Tribute Portrait, which honors Jackson by creating a portrait made up of individual dots. Each dot represents a fan who has signed up to have their dot added. Maxso is one of many celebrities involved with the project.
Maxso will embark on his "Unity Tour" in 2011. The tour will promote non-violence and unity in the schools and communities. The tour was inspired by the song "Unity" on Maxso's upcoming EP release. Maxso is also a spokesman for the Green Lifestyle Film Festival's teen/tween project. The project provides cameras and other filmmaking equipment so that kids can film their lives and express personal hardships. Is it me or should Maxso be nominated for President on whichever ticket and platform he chooses? The kid seems to be doing everything right; or at least, his handlers are thoughtfully constructing his image!
