The legal parties involved in this case might want to shield themselves from crystal-encrusted cell phones which are sure to be hurled at their heads eventually. According to BBC News reporters, temperamental supermodel Naomi Campbell may be subpoenaed to testify before the International Criminal Court at The Hague in the ongoing trial of Charles Taylor regarding alleged blood diamonds bestowed upon her by the former Liberian leader while the two attended a dinner at the home of then-South African president Nelson Mandela in September of 1997. Taylor is a bad guy who is on trial for war crimes committed during the brutal, decade-long civil war in Sierra Leone. How the hell does a bratty diva like Campbell get involved in a mess like this? By being beautiful? It is a charmed life she leads.
Campbell has long evaded questioning in the case, having already declined to voluntarily testify. The lady doth protest too much, methinks! War crimes investigators were alerted Thursday to a photograph of Campbell and Taylor together at the dinner party, when the photo -- which was taken by actress Mia Farrow -- was featured on an ABC news segment. Prosecutors feel the photo, combined with testimony by Farrow and Campbell's then-agent linking her to the blood diamonds, is more than enough to force Campbell to do the right thing and testify before she doesn't have a choice and has to get on the stand. Campbell has bristled when asked about the topic, but then again, doesn't she bristle about everything, especially when she's surfing the crimson wave?
Do you think Campbell will testify? Do you think her refusal to do so implicates her further?
