The Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch Misses Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

The Beastie Boys planned performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which was held in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday (April 14) fell through, as Adam Yauch AKA MCA had to pull out of his appearance. His groupmates Adam Horovitz AKA Adrock and Michael Diamond, AKA Mike D, were on site to accept the honor but did not perform without him.
A statement regarding MCA's MIA-ness read as follows: "Beastie Boys regret that Adam "MCA" Yauch will be unable to join Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Adrock" Horovitz at the band's induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Mike, Adam and Adam are truly grateful for the honor but with only two of the three Beastie Boys attending, they will unfortunately not be able to perform at the ceremony." The band did share the honor with fans, saying it is as much theirs as the band's. Nice touch, guys!
There was no reason provided for Yauch's absence. He was diagnosed with salivary gland in the summer of 2009, so that could factor into play. Or not.
Congrats to the Beasties and we hope that MCA is okay and that he just had a scheduling conflict.
