I had a feeling that these rumors would end up ringing true: The Black Eyed Peas will perform during the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show on February 6. The news was announced yesterday during the New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys afternoon game. The Super Bowl is set to take place at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched musical event of the year. More than 153 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show.  The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide. In essence, hundreds of millions of eyeballs will be on will.i.am, Fergie and the rest of the Peas. It's a plum gig and I am sure the Peas will handle it with their signature swagger.

Recent halftime acts that includes The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.

The Beginning, the Peas' new album, is out November 30. Fans that purchase a copy of the record will earn the chance to be a special guest of the band at the halftime show.

That'd be reason enough for me to nab a copy.

Are you looking forward to the Halftime Show of the Super Bowl now that you know The Black Eyed Peas will be performing? Who do you predict will go to the Super Bowl? I'm thinking the Eagles, for sure.
