The Black Eyed Peas are getting their charity on this summer!

The Peas announced to a New York area radio station that they will be playing a benefit gig in Central Park on June 9th. The show aids the Robin Hood Foundation and its mission to fight poverty in New York City. It's a personal mission, as apl.de.ap said, "I am a prime example of these kinds of events. I grew up in the Philippines and I remember I used to get notebooks and pencils and learned how to speak English and wrote my sponsor and then he decided to adopt me. This type of movement really works and helps out kids."

"We are thrilled to follow in the footsteps of icons such as Simon & Garfunkel and Diana Ross by performing a free concert for our fans in Central Park," said Fergie in a statement. "But more importantly, we are performing to benefit Robin Hood's efforts to help those living in poverty in New York City and to help disadvantaged youth in New York with the launch of our Peapod Academy."

Are you a New York area local who will be attending this show?
