The Black Lips Sign On to Star in 'Let It Be'

Fried Green Tomatoes/The Breakfast Club producer Andrew Meyer has snagged The Black Lips for a starring role in Let It Be. Co-produced by Winn Coslick (The Bottom) and directed by Roger Rawlings (Neurotica), the feature film focuses on the post-punk underground of the late '80sa time when 'doing it yourself' was de rigueur.
Production is set to begin in May of 2008 at several locations throughout the Southeast. While the Lips will be playing a fictitious band, they are working on some original music for the film, which will also feature classic songs from the post-punk time period. TiVo enthusiasts take note: The grimy garage rock revivalists will also perform "O' Katrina" and "Bad Kids" on the Fuel TV program The Daily Habit Friday at 9 p.m. EST.
