The Breeders Ready First Record in Six Years
4AD Records has announced the April 8 release of Mountain Battles, the first Breeders album since 2002's Title TK. Written by guitarist/vocalist Kim Deal after her run of Pixies reunion shows in 2004 and 2005, the record is rounded out by the TK lineup of bassist Mando Lopez, drummer Jose Medeles and Kim's sister Kelley, also on guitars and vocals. Legendary indie rock producer Steve Albini recorded many of the album's songs at his Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, returning to the role he had on Pod, Title TK and the Pixies classic Surfer Rosa.In a interview posted this past weekend at Venuszine.com, Kim Deal answered reader questions and had this to say about Albini: "A fail-safe for recording? Just go to Steve … He doesn't give a sh-t whether you are male or female. He won't give a sh-t about you at all, or your music. But he will professionally record your session to the best of his ability and sincerely hope you're happy with it."
The Breeders will celebrate Mountain's release with a full UK tour in April and worldwide dates throughout 2008 including appearances at South By Southwest and Coachella.
