Did you really think things weren't going to end up like this? After how things have been going for the past 12 months, did you expect things to end up any other way? Well for those of you who thought just maybe, somehow, Father John Misty would pull through or Drake would continue to watch the throne, prepare to be disappointed. The Chainsmokers' debut record Memories… Do Not Open debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
Memories… Do Not Open moved 221,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with 166,000 of those in traditional album sales. With that, The Chainsmokers became the first electronic act in three years to top the chart.
Drake, who has spent the last three weeks at number one, fell to number two, and Ed Sheeran finished up the week at number three. Meanwhile, Pentatonix claimed their seventh Top 10 album as PTX Vol. IV: Classics debuted at number four. Joey Bada$$'s All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ came in at number five. Bruno Mars' 24K Magic remains a Top 10 fixture as it settled at Number Six, ahead of the Moana soundtrack which finished seventh. Kodak Black's Painting Pictures came in at eight and Future's self-titled LP finished at nine. Meanwhile in exciting news, Father John Misty's Pure Comedy debuted at number 10.
