Columbia Records will release The Civil Wars' self-titled follow-up to their debut, Barton Hollow, in late summer. The band may do some promotional appearances, but are not expected to tour behind it.
The Civil Wars, comprised of Joy Williams and John Paul White, had finished the album prior to splitting up in November over "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition." So they were amidst their own literal civil war.
They also made headlines for "Safe & Sound," their duet with Taylor Swift.
"I am fiercely proud of this album," Williams wrote on the band's website. "A lot of soul, sweat and tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours. We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning and growing along this ever-evolving path."
White was all about brevity in his hand-penned note. He stated: "Patience is a virtue. Yours has been appreciated. Here's to the hope you consider it rewarded."
