The CMA Songwriters Series returns to Joe's Bar in Chicago for a special night on August 1 at 6:30 PM/CT. Celebrating its ninth remarkable year, the CMA Songwriters Series features special guests Matraca Berg, Kristian Bush, Bobby Pinson, and Bob DiPiero, who will also serve as the evening's host.
"The thing I love most about the CMA Songwriters Series is watching the audience discover new things about songs they've known for years, said Bush, one-half of Sugarland. "I know I've learned more about the songwriting process just by sitting next to the amazing writers in this series. As a bonus, I also love Chicago and Joe's Bar -- I remember the first time I played there and I look forward to playing there again in August, it's going to be another great night."
Berg won the CMA Song of the Year award in 1997 for the Deana Carter hit "Strawberry Wine." She was nominated for the same award in 2011 for "You & Tequila," recorded by Kenny Chesney featuring Grace Potter. Her songs have been recorded by Patty Loveless, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Linda Rondstadt, and Trisha Yearwood.
Also joining the group is singer-songwriter Bobby Pinson. Pinson has had multiple No. 1 hits including "It Happens," "Already Gone," "All I Want To Do," and his first No. 1 song "Want To," all recorded by Sugarland.
CMA Songwriters Series host DiPiero ("Southern Voice" recorded by Tim McGraw, "Blue Clear Sky" recorded by George Strait, and "Lovin' You Is Fun" recorded by Easton Corbin) will also return to the stage, sharing the entertaining stories behind some of his most popular hit songs. DiPiero has had over 1,200 songs recorded by other artists, countless hit singles, and an astounding fifteen No. 1 hits.
The event is 21+.
