After nearly four years, enduring indie rockers The Dandy Warhols have unveiled new music for the first time since its 2012 release, This Machine. The track, "You Are Killing Me," was just released and is available at iTunes, Spotify, and all your favorite digital retailers.
The song is reminiscent of the soundtrack of a ‘90s house party and features fuzzy guitars, soft synths, and a melody you’ll be humming all day. Fans are hailing it as one of the best songs the 22-year-old band has put out in years and we’ve got it playing on repeat.
The Portland, OR-based band has spent a busy couple of years on the road since its last album, closing out 2015 with a packed U.S. tour that included three nights at the Los Angeles Teragram Ballroom. The foursome is currently headed to South America for a handful of shows, followed by a UK date, with more to come.
The band has label-hopped since its long run with Capitol ended in 2008 and according to a press release sent yesterday it has recently signed to Toronto’s Dine Alone Records.
Although the long-running group has shown no signs of slowing down, inking with Dine Alone hints at the possibility of an upcoming 9th studio album. Dine Alone label owner/founder Joel Carriere had this to say about bringing the band to the fold:
"My first introduction to the Dandy Warhols goes back to when I was 21, and working at a record store. Good Will Hunting blew up and we were selling a ton of copies of the soundtrack. Not having a full appreciation for Elliott Smith yet, I didn't bother putting the soundtrack on when at work. When I saw the movie in the theatre, I had to know what song was playing in the background during the legendary scene when Will helps Chuckie with an arrogant MIT student. Since we didn't have access to the Internet, let alone Shazam back then, I had to wait to scan the tracklist. Boom! It was the Dandy Warhols and the song also happened to be on their LP The Dandy Warhols Come Down. I couldn't be more thrilled that this record store clerk is now working with a band that had such an impact."
