The Decemberists have announced the fall release of Always the Bridesmaid: A Singles Series, which is just that: a three-volume smattering of 12-inch/digital singles, beginning with the October 14 release of "Valerie Plame"/"O New England." While November 4 brings with it "Days of Elaine," "Days of Elaine [Long]," and "I'm Sticking With You," December 2 will be the touchdown point of "Record Year" and "Raincoat Song."

In case you're wondering, "Valerie Plame" is indeed "an amorous tribute to the onetime CIA operative … written from the point-of-view of one of Plame's inside contacts upon discovering her true identity." We're not sure what the rest of the new songs are about, but we do know this: Capitol is dealing with the digital side of Always the Bridesmaid, and the band's own Y.A.B.B. Records is handling the vinyl version.

Other than that, The Decemberists plan on touring a bit in November, including a November 3 appearance on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." They're also working on an official follow-up to The Crane Wife with producer Tucker Martine.
