The Dixie Chicks to Record New Song For Steve Martin Album

The Dixie Chicks may never get over the criticism that middle American audiences – once their core fans— hurled their way when they said that they were ashamed that former President George W. Bush was from Texas… but the gals sure are trying! The Texas trio, which has been on hiatus since 2007 but remain working on other projects in the interim, will sing on a track for comedian/actor Steve Martin's new album. In case you were not up on Martin's musical endeavors, the wild and crazy guy released a successful bluegrass album and is continuing to make tunes!
"It was right up our alley, because we are looking for projects that are fun and exciting and different, and that's just something that's perfect," Martie Maguire -- who's currently on the road with her sister and fellow Chick Emily Robison in their other band, Court Yard Hounds – told our friends at Billboard.com. "Of course we said yes to begin with, but then he sent the song and it's really good, so we're really excited. I think we assumed we were going to play, but he's got this amazing bluegrass band, so we're just harmonizing."
The Chicks haven't released an album since 2006.
Will the Chicks' career ever recover from singer Natalie Maines' verbal gaffe?
