The Glorious comprised of Christopher Wicks and Mick Rossi, released the video for "Another Yesterday," a tribute to John Lennon and his tragic death on Dec. 8, 1980. Filmed in both New York and Los Angeles by award winning Director Phillip Guzman, the piece captures both the musical duo and director's feelings about Lennon's great loss and the impact that it had on the world.
"Another Yesterday" was written by both Wicks and Rossi and recorded in Los Angeles, CA. In reflecting on the creation of the song Rossi states, "Chris presented me with a beautiful poem, an homage he wrote to John Lennon. I was inspired by the depth of Chris'' story and I knew that I had to find something musically that fit the tone and mood of the time. I always knew that I wanted to have strings under-scoring the movement of the song. I think that we captured something magical. Chris was actually in New York at the time of John's killing and I think that the lyrics reflect his feelings for John and the loss that the world felt." Adds Director Phillip Guzman, "'Another Yesterday' is a hauntingly beautiful account of that infamous day when the world was robbed of John Lennon. We all felt that it was important to give the video a classic look as well as an intimate and personal feel. Glimpses of that fateful day cut with Chris and Mick's memories which are expressed through their words and through their soul, would be the way we visually share the story with the world."
The Glorious recently released their first CD Stories From a Fractured Youth [itunes link], an album that showcases the sound and feel of the music that the duo grew up with in Manchester, England. Chris Wicks, the group's lyricist and designer of all things English Laundry has spent his lifetime combining his love of music and fashion. He retains the rights for both Lennon and Paul McCartney lyrics for apparel and has designed lines for the Fender guitar company and the Jimi Hendrix Foundation. He also has co-designed a clothing brand with his friend Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots.
Actor, musician, writer and Producer Mick Rossi began his career in Manchester, forming the cult British punk band Slaughter & the Dogs who are considered to be one of the founders of the punk rock movement. He has also penned scripts with Gabriel Byrne, Joanne Whalley and Patrick Bergin and recently co-wrote the film A Kiss And A Promise with Phillip Guzman and played the part of David Beck in the movie.
