The Go Go's Talk About Their Farewell Tour

Of the final tour for all-girl rock group The Go-Go's, drummer Gina Schock says she doesn't "believe it's really farewell." The band has been around for 38 years, and still no other all-female rock group has managed to reach the bar they set. Their debut album Beauty and the Beat is considered one of the best albums of New Wave; it remained in the number one slot of the Billboard charts for six weeks, and remains one of the highest selling debut albums of all time.
The Go Go's final tour is set to begin August 2nd in Clearwater, Florida and will feature a variety of their classic as well as some deeper cuts for super fans. One of the band's current favorite artists, Best Coast, will accompany them across the country. The concert series will come to an end August 30th in the band's hometown of Los Angeles, California at the storied Greek Theatre.
ARTISTdirect's Christopher Friedmann caught up with The Go Go's Gina Schock to discuss her feelings on the band's final tour, why there have not been any all-female rock bands topping the charts in the last few decades, and what it'll be like bringing their adventure to a close in their hometown:
