For those viewers who weren't watching Ricky Gervais razz Mel Gibson at the 78th annual Golden Globes last night in Los Angeles, we've compiled the results of the winners in the few music-related categories honored by the event.
Best Original Score went to Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. We mentioned a while back the Tarantino/Morricone collaboration was the first time Morricone composed a score specifically for a Tarantino picture, though not the first time a Tarantino flick used Morricone's music.
Best Original Song went to Spectre's "Writing on the Wall," performed by Sam Smith and co-written with Jimmy Napes. (The internet lit up about a week ago when it was revealed Radiohead had submitted a prospective song for that movie, what Pitchfork calls "one of the finest Radiohead songs in some years.")
Lady Gaga, fresh from her naked V Magazine cover shoot for with fiance Taylor Kinney, nabbed Best Performance by An Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for American Horror Story: Hotel.
And finally, Mozart in the Jungle, the original Amazon series about a fictional New York symphony, took Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy thanks to Gael Garcia Bernal, as well as Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
