The Hurt Locker explodes with six statues at the 82nd Academy Awards

"The Hurt Locker," a gritty, intense film that follows Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians during the Iraq war, was the big winner of six Academy Awards on Sunday night (March 7), taking home six Academy Awards, including Best Picture as well as Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, who becomes the first woman ever bestowed such an honor. Other big winners on the evening include Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock, (respectively, Best Actor for "Crazy Heart" and Best Actress for "The Blind Side"), and the film "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" which saw wins for Best Adapted Screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Mo'Nique).
