The Jam Reunites without Paul Weller - The quintessential British mod band regroups despite the absence of their most famous member [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Two of the three members of legendary mod-rocker band the Jam have reunited for the first time in 25 years. Bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler announced that despite vocalist and guitarist Paul Weller's absence, the band is still continuing on. "Paul Weller has a fantastic solo career," said Buckler, "And is one of the UK's most talented songwriters. Paul is always welcome to join us for the reunions, but until then, we've got a new tour and a new album to do."

So who will take over the Modfather's vocal duties? Strangely enough, it's Russell Hastings, a musician who's covered Weller before in the bands the Paul Weller Council and the Gift. "Paul had cut all lines of communication with myself and Bruce after 1982 for reasons of his own," Buckler told Billboard.com, "I do know that he was aware of the Gift and what I was doing, and that he was not interested in any way in reforming the Jam. For my part, there seemed little point even putting the question to him, or even if he was open for any dialog on the subject."

Weller has not yet been reached for comment.
