Ryan Reynolds Videos
The Oscars are over, and things are heating up outside- which means they’re heating up at the box office too. Summer is always the time of year that studios unleash their big guns. Let’s take a look at the prime suspects!
The Hangover Part II- May 26
The Hangover was clearly one of the best comedies of all time. Yeah, I said it! While it may be a little hard to believe these guys are getting into a similar hi-jinx again, the sequel still promises to be hi-larious- especially since it all happens in Thailand. I can’t wait for The Hangover III, when someone stages an intervention for Phil, Stu, and Alan.
X-Men: First Class- June 3
They are rebooting the X-Men series this summer, and we’ll get to see the very first class of superheroes at Professor Xavier’s school for mutants. I for one hope we get to see them use their mutant powers to ace their AP English exam!
Green Lantern- June 17
Ryan Reynolds has been cast to play The Green Lantern, the DC Comics superhero who derives his powers from wearing a ring. Talk about the power of fashion! Ryan Reynolds’ wit and screen presence should make this a wild ride this summer.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II- July 15
This is it- the final installment in the legacy of Harry Potter. Part One of the Deathly Hallows was fantastic, and this one promises to be one “magical” finale. Wordplay!
Captain America: The First Avenger- July 22
Marvel is rolling out all of the characters from “The Avengers,” with Thor leading off this summer. Captain America- the Marvel Super Hero first unveiled during World War II- has become an icon. The film adaptation, starring Chris Evans, promises to be intriguing.
Cowboys and Aliens- July 29
Have you seen the trailer for this? On one hand, this looks amazing. On the other hand, I can’t believe this movie got made. The concept is this: a bunch of aliens invade a desolate western town of, well, cowboys. As it turns out, this town ain’t big enough for the both of ‘em. File this under “We’ve gotta see this!”
30 Minutes or Less- August 12
Jesse Eisenberg and Aziz Ansari star in this comedy about a pizza delivery guy who gets more than he bargained for. As it turns out, two amateur criminals force a pizza delivery boy to rob a bank in less than thirty minutes. If he can’t rob the bank in the allotted time, the money is FREE! Just kidding about that last part. With Ansari and Eisenberg, expect some good stuff.
Crazy, Stupid, Love.- July 29
This quirky comedy features an all-star comedy line-up of Steve Carell, Emma Stone, and… Ryan Gosling? Either way, this looks to be very funny. Also, I think it’s the first non-Oscar-bait film Gosling has done since The Notebook. It features a middle-aged man (Carell) going through a divorce, and the hot young stud (Gosling) who teaches him to get his mojo back. During the process, hilarity ensues.
Now you have your marching orders for the summer cinema. Go forth and sit in air-conditioned rooms for two hours at a time!
What are you excited to see this summer?
