The National are set to begin recording a new album, reports Pitchfork. "In a new interview with Pitchfork, Aaron Dessner said that he's recently finished building a new studio at his home in upstate New York, where the National will "start recording soon" for their upcoming album."

Pitchfork goes on to report, "Dessner said of the studio, "We need a new home because everybody is scattered," since frontman Matt Berninger now lives in Los Angeles and Bryce splits his time between the Catskills and Paris. He adds that he's "been really, really working hard on the National stuff now, so that's mainly, almost every day," and that they will "do the whole record there, because it'll just be fun and a good feeling."

He added, "I put out a lot of records recently and I feel like I need to focus on my own music, it'll be a different thing, a really different part of your brain, and I'm excited to get back."" The National last released Trouble Will Find Me in 2013.

Matt Berninger (lead-singer of The National) has also joined up with Jarvis Cocker and Savages' Jehnny Beth to work on the "Requiem for 114 Radios" project, Pitchfork reports. "It's an exhibit and installation where a chorus of voices are played on 114 FM radios. The chorus will perform a new version of Dies Irae from the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass. The performance is open to the public May 13 in the cellars of Bristol's Colston Hall as part of the Bristol New Music weekend. The full lineup includes Casper Clausen (Efterklang/Liima), Jimi Goodwin (Doves), Rachel Goswell (Slowdive, Minor Victories) Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), Joe McAlinden (Linden, formerly Superstar/BMX Bandits), Aimee Nash (The Black Ryder), Conrad Standish (The Devastations), Jonnine Standish (HTRK), Elena Tonra (Daughter) and Rachel Zeffira (Cat's Eyes)."
