The Neverending Story Reboot in the Works

A reboot of the classic fantasy film The Neverending Story is in the works under Warner Bros. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way shingle and the Kennedy/Marshall Company are in negotiations with the studio about bringing the 25-year-old franchise back to the big screen with a modern take on the plot. Warner Bros. has obtained the rights to the property.

The original film was based on an German-language novel about a boy named Bastian who uncovers a parallel world through a book called The Neverending Story. The boy buries himself deep into the book and eventually must save the universe.

The remake will be produced and overseen by original producer Dieter Geissler and will delve into details from the book that were not explored in the first movie. The original and its two sequels have gone on to enjoy cult status on home video. The redo is in the earliest stages of development and no writers have been attached to the project.
