Everybody can have a piece of rock 'n' roll at the PERRI INK. Cartel.
Whether you want a tattoo, piercing, handmade guitar, motorcycle parts, professional photos or even a turn-of-the-century "gentlemen's cut", you can have it at this brand new Melrose Ave. destination in Hollywood, CA. During the PERRI INK. Cartel's opening party last Friday, a myriad of celebrities and artists lived the rock 'n' roll dream this 21st century emporium so staunchly embodies. That's the best thing about the PERRI INK. Cartel, everyone can always join the party.
Genre icons Derek Mears [Friday the 13th, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides] and Tyler Mane [Rob Zombie's Halloween, Halloween II] hung out at the back bar, chatting it up with fans and journalists. Mears and Mane reinvigorated both Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers, respectively. They each added a menacing spark, yielding the best representations of either character yet. In person, they're the most approachable, hilarious, and friendly guys you can meet, and they proved to be a beacon of buzz at the party. [See our dual interview with Mears and Mane here].
The Cartel also played host to Jessie and the Toy Boys. Hot off the Femme Fatale tour with Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj and this summer's Identity Festival, Jessie took a break from putting the finishing touches on her forthcoming 2012 debut, This is How Rumors Start, to kick it at The Cartel. She's got an undeniable presence on stage, on tape, or just hanging out. That's why she's going to take over pop when this album drops. Listen to her new single "Let's Get Naughty" here, and you'll hear why she rules…[See Syd's ARTISTdirect.com blog here!]
Syd and Taelor Duran of Los Angeles hard rock saviors Valora also attended the event. In Valora, the girls conjure an immortally infectious brand of rock that's as invigorating as it is incisive. They're also readying a full-length debut for 2012 that's bound to turn heads. At the event, they took photos with Mane and Mears, all brandishing ear-to-ear grins. In addition, actor, singer, and songwriter Drew Seeley hung out. Drew's new album, The Resolution, is hypnotic pop at its finest, and Seeley illuminated yet another facet of the Cartel's appeal. [Watch our video interview with Drew Seeley here!]
It makes sense that the PERRI INK. Cartel was founded by guitarist Nick Perri [Perry Farrell, ex-Shinedown]. His friendly nature is imbued in the store's ethos welcoming all and bringing out the rock star in everyone.
