The Pixies Deny New Album

A vague Web posting by the Artist in Residence design collective—"Pixies, Minotaur, Available for pre-order June 15"—has led Pixies fans to assume they have a new album out soon. What the band actually has up their sleeves, though, is a box set that includes their four albums and the Come On Pilgrim EP. Bonus tracks are still to-be-determined and the music itself won't be remastered, but Artist in Residence founder Jeff Anderson told rollingstone.com the set will have artwork on par with the company's elaborate Ghosts I-IV collection for Nine Inch Nails.
Some details, then: a Deluxe Edition will be available for $175 and spread the albums across 24k layered CDs. A slipcase will also house a 54-page book and a Blu-Ray DVD of music videos and a classic Brixton Academy gig from 1991. As for the $450 Limited Edition, it tacks on custom clamshell packaging, 180-gram vinyl versions of all the albums, a special Giclée print, and a 72-page hardcover book. To find out more, check out the Pixie's page on Artist in Residence on June 15.
