The Stone Roses have announced two arena shows in Leeds. The city's First Direct Arena will be the focal point for some pretty fevered action on the ticket purchase hotlines when they open on December 9th, at 9:30am local time. The new dates of June 20 and 21 come in addition to those already announced in Belfast, London and Glasgow. Eagle-eyed fans hoped and guessed that big news was coming from the Stone Roses when their iconic lemon motif appeared in a Leeds location. The lemon had appeared in the band's hometown of Manchester last year, ahead of the their concert at the Etihad Stadium.
The band are confirmed to appear in Australia later this month for three shows at the Sydney Opera House.
Dates previously announced by the Madchester band are Belfast SSE Arena on June 13, London's Wembley Stadium on 17, Leeds' SSE Arena on 20 and 21 and Glasgow's Hampden Park on 24. The band will also head to Japan in 2017 to play the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo. The band are also rumored to be headlining the 2017 Glastonbury Festival.
There is no word yet on whether the band will play the U.S. this year. In 2016, the band visited the States just once, with a single night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Earlier this year the band also released their first new music in over two decades, singles "All For One" and "Beautiful Thing" were met with mixed reviews. Rumors, gossip, hope and speculation - all the usual fare for the band with a tumultuous history - continue to spin around the possibility of a new full length album from Ian Brown Mani, Reni, John Squire and Ian Brown.
