The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi says that the band are in the process of making new music, which they hope to release next year.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Valensi said "We are working on stuff. It's tough to say when people are going to get to hear it, but we're working on stuff and there will be new Strokes music sometime next year.... It's early, but we've got maybe eight to 10 ideas that are floating around. None of them are super concrete just yet, but it's cool stuff."

The Strokes released new EP Future Present Past in June, their first new material since their 2013 album Comedown Machine. With a busy summer of live events behind them, the band have been playing some of the new tunes blended in with the older, familiar music.

Recently, Valensi has formed new LA-based band called CRX, who release their Josh Homme-produced, debut album New Skin on October 28th. The side-project work promises to sound 'big', but with the signature Valensi sound.
