British rock pioneers, The Who, have scheduled a six night residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band is set to perform July 29th, August 1st, 4th, 7th, 9th and 11th.

Although Caesars' Colosseum first opened its doors back in 2003, The Who will be the first band to take residency. The six-night stand is being billed as the band's "first run", suggesting that this might only be the beginning of what may or may not turn into a more permanent stay for the rockers. Tickets for the residency go on sale March 17th at 12 p.m. PT via the Colosseum website or AXS.

The Who are set to wind down their "last big tour" this coming April with a variety of UK shows, set to take place from March 30th through April 12th. However, Pete Townsend suggested that this would not be the band's final farewell. Back in December, he told Rolling Stone of the excitement he is getting from performing this time around, "It's much nicer to play our music to younger audiences, who really haven't grown up with it.That's what struck me about the last five weeks of the tour; we were playing to a much larger number of younger people. I just feel, like, 'Wow. I'm alive to see a new generation of people really get this stuff.' It's just a real kick."

The Who haven't released a new album since 2006's Endless Wire, and that came 24 years after their previous release, 1982's It's Hard. So it's safe to say we shouldn't be expecting any new tunes from the band. But with such an immense catalogue of classics, it's hard to imagine fans need anything else. Personally, we just can't wait to see them light up the Colosseum.
